SEATTLE, Wash. — The Professional Baseball Strength and Conditioning Coaches Society (PBSCCS) and Professional Baseball Athletic Trainers Society (PBATS) announced the following minor league award recipients in the Mariners organization:

· Michael Sadler, PBSCCS Strength Coach of the Year Award (Triple-A Tacoma)

· Drew Weidner, PBSCCS Strength Coach of the Year Award (High-A Everett)

· Dan LaBerry, PBATS Northwest League ATC Award (High-A Everett)

“Michael, Drew and Dan being voted as 2023 award winners by their peers around the league is the ultimate testament to their work ethic, dedication and expertise in what they do,” Mariners Senior Director of High Performance Rob Scheidegger said. “Our three award winners, along with all the expert staff in High Performance throughout our organization, consistently go the extra mile in improving our process and giving our players the opportunity to be the very best versions of themselves.

Sadler is in his second season as Strength & Conditioning Coach for the Rainiers after serving in the same role in 2022. Prior to joining Triple-A Tacoma, he spent the 2021 season as Strength & Conditioning Coach for the Double-A Arkansas Travelers. He also won the Professional Baseball Strength and Conditioning Coaching Society Coach of the Year award in 2021. The Mount Marty University (Yankton, SD) graduate first got his opportunity as a strength and conditioning coach in 2018, when he was the youngest employee and only strength and conditioning coach to work in Clinton, Iowa, with the Clinton LumberKings.

Weidner is in his first season with the AquaSox after serving as the Strength & Conditioning Coach for the Arizona Complex League Mariners in 2022. The Minnesota native also served as a Strength & Conditioning Intern for the ACL club in 2021.

LaBerry joined the AquaSox in 2023 after serving as the Athletic Trainer in the previous two seasons with the Modesto Nuts. He previously interned with the Atlanta Braves and the Northwestern University football program. LaBerry graduated with his M.S. in Sports Administration from Valparaiso University in 2020 and completed his B.S. in Athletic Training from North Central College in 2018. The PBATS Minor League Baseball awards are given annually to one member of each of the 14 leagues in Minor League Baseball.
