SEATTLE, Wash. — The Seattle Mariners learned on Saturday that the Mariners production Kyle Lewis: Writing My Own Story has received an Emmy Award for the Sports — One-Time Special category.

Kyle Lewis: Writing My Own Story is the second Seattle Mariners production to win an Emmy Award. The Mariners previously won an Emmy Award for the production of Ken Griffey Jr. Tribute in 2017 for the Sports-Feature/Segment category.

Kyle Lewis: Writing My Own Story, an original production of the Seattle Mariners My Oh My Productions, which debuted in November 2020, features insightful interviews with Lewis, his parents, high school coach, and the trainer who helped him get in top condition for the start of the 2020 season, among others. It includes video highlights of Lewis’s playing career from Mercer University through High-A, Double-A and his on-field heroics as a Major League player.

The program tells the story of how Lewis overcame adversity and setbacks at every step on his baseball journey that began as a top-rated prospect out of Shiloh High School in Snellville, Georgia. Lewis speaks frankly about his struggles on the field during college and dealing with the perception of professional scouts that his hitting lacked power despite his ranking as Baseball America’s 2016 College Player of the Year.

The production was conceived and produced entirely in-house by the Mariners.

My Oh My Productions, Seattle Mariners:

  • Executive Producers: Gregg Greene & Ben Mertens
  • Producer/Director: Tim Walsh
  • Associate Producers: Kyle Lewis, Sam Findlay & Eric Vaughn
  • Editor: Dan Oleskowicz

In 2020, the Mariners received the Golden Matrix Award for Best Overall Production in Major League Baseball at the IDEA (Information Display and Entertainment Association) Virtual Conference. Since 1989, the Mariners have won 29 Total GMA Awards for in-game video production and presentation, the most of any sports organization.

Kyle Lewis: Writing My Own Story was originally streamed by the Mariners, but then ran on ROOT SPORTS and, eventually, the MLB Network. For fans who missed it, or who just want to see it again, Kyle Lewis: Writing My Own Story is available on the Mariners YouTube channel: YouTube.com/Mariners.
