PEORIA, Ariz. — The Mariners continued Cactus League play this afternoon with a 6–5 victory over the Texas Rangers at Peoria Stadium. Robbie Ray got the start on the mound for Seattle, spinning 4.1 strong innings with 2 walks and 6 strikeouts. The Mariners enjoyed their 3rd-consecutive game with 10+ hits on the offensive end, pushing across 6 runs on 10 hits.

Dylan Moore gave the Mariners an early lead with a solo home run to left field in the bottom of the third inning, and the Mariners never trailed for the remainder of the contest. Seattle continued to add to its lead later in the inning as J.P. Crawford scored on an RBI single from Mitch Haniger to push the advantage to 2-0.

Following another Mariners insurance run in the third inning, the Rangers cut the lead to 3-2 in the top of the fifth inning, plating 2 runs on 2 hits and 1 walk.

Seattle answered the Rangers comeback effort in the bottom of the fifth frame, using hits by Mitch Haniger (2B), Julio Rodríguez (2B) and Cal Raleigh (1B) to score 3 runs, extending their lead to 6-2.

Seattle used 5 different relievers following Ray’s departure: Devin Sweet (0.2), Paul Sewald (1.0), Drew Steckenrider (1.0), Andrés Muñoz (1.0) and Erik Swanson (1.0). The Rangers scored 3 runs against the bullpen over the remainder of the game, all via solo home runs, but the comeback fell short as the Mariners prevailed 6-5.
