PEORIA, Ariz. — Seattle Mariners President of Baseball Operations Jerry Dipoto announced today the following roster move:

· Sal Romano (#87), RHP, signed to a minor league contract with an invitation to Major League Spring Training.

Romano, 28, has made 88 career appearances (41 starts) across 5 Major League seasons with Cincinnati (2017–21), New York-AL (2021) and Milwaukee (2021). He is 15–21 with 2 saves and a 5.23 ERA (160 ER, 275.1 IP) with 109 walks and 211 strikeouts in his Major League career.

The 6-foot-5 right-hander was selected by Cincinnati in the 23rd round of the 2011 MLB First-Year Player Draft out of Southington High School (CT). He made his Major League debut on April 16, 2017. Romano has made 199 appearances in the minor leagues, including 135 starts.
