ARLINGTON, Texas — Seattle Mariners Executive Vice President & General Manager of Baseball Operations Justin Hollander announced today the following roster moves:

  • Bryan Woo (#33), RHP, selected from Double-A Arkansas.
  • Marco Gonzales, LHP, placed on 15-day Injured List (left forearm strain).
  • Easton McGee, RHP, transferred to 60-day Injured List (right forearm strain).

The Mariners Major League, 40-man roster remains full at 40 players.

Woo, 23, is scheduled to make his Major League debut in a start at Texas today. In 9 starts with the Arkansas Travelers this season, Woo is 3–2 with a 2.05 ERA (10 ER, 44.0 IP) with 12 walks and 59 strikeouts, holding opponents to a .174 batting average (27x155).

Woo is ranked as the #6 prospect in the Mariners organization by MLB.com.

The right-hander was named Mariners Minor League Pitcher of the Month in both April and May. He was also named Texas League Pitcher of the Week on May 14 after he got the win and tossed 7.0 scoreless innings with just 2 hits allowed, no walks and 7 strikeouts on May 11 vs. Northwest Arkansas. Woo has allowed 2-or-fewer runs in 8 of his 9 outings this season, and recorded a season-high 10 strikeouts on May 17 at Wichita.

The San Luis Obispo, California native was selected by Seattle in the 6th round of the 2021 MLB First-Year Player Draft out of Cal Poly. In 25 career minor league starts, he is 4–6 with a 3.21 ERA (36 ER, 101.0 IP) with 34 walks and 143 strikeouts, registering a 4.21 strikeout-to-walk ratio.

Gonzales, 31, has made 10 starts for the Mariners this season, going 4–1 with a 5.22 ERA (29 ER, 50.0 IP) with 18 walks and 34 strikeouts.

Gonzales felt discomfort during his start on May 28 vs. Pittsburgh. Due to persistent pain during his scheduled bullpen session on May 31, he underwent an MRI which, after review by multiple specialists, confirmed the diagnosis of a left forearm strain.

Gonzales ranks 8th in Mariners franchise history in wins (61), T-7th in starts (148), 10th in strikeouts (631) and 10th in quality starts (73).

In 9 Major League seasons, the left-hander is 65–49 with a 4.14 ERA (411 ER, 893.0 IP) with 238 walks and 665 strikeouts with St. Louis (2014–15, ’17) and Seattle (2017-c). The longest-tenured active Mariners player made his Seattle debut on Aug. 6, 2017 at Kansas City, and was acquired by Seattle from St. Louis in exchange for OF Tyler O’Neill on July 21, 2017. He was originally drafted by the Cardinals in the 1st round (19th overall) of the 2013 MLB First-Year Player Draft out of Gonzaga University.

McGee, 25, was placed on the 15-day Injured List on April 30 with a right forearm strain. He made one start for the Mariners on April 29 at Toronto, holding the Blue Jays to one hit and one walk over 6.2 scoreless innings.

Prior to his recall, he went 3–0 with a 3.14 ERA (10 ER, 28.2 IP) with 24 strikeouts and 9 walks over 5 starts with Triple-A Tacoma. McGee was acquired by the Mariners on Nov. 9, 2022 from the Boston Red Sox in exchange for cash considerations.

McGee, a 6-foot, 6-inch, right-handed pitcher, made his Major League debut on Oct. 2, 2022 at Houston while with the Tampa Bay Rays. He did not allow an earned run over 3.0 innings. The Hopkinsville, Kentucky-born pitcher has appeared in parts of 7 minor league seasons, going 31–23 with a 4.30 ERA (232 ER, 485.1 IP) with 357 strikeouts and 95 walks in 106 career games (96 starts). He was originally selected by the Tampa Bay Rays in the 4th round of the 2016 MLB First-Year Player Draft out of Hopkinsville High School (KY).
