SEATTLE, Wash. — Seattle Mariners Executive Vice President & General Manager of Baseball Operations Jerry Dipoto announced today the following roster moves:

  • Dillon Thomas, OF, selected from Triple-A Tacoma.
  • Jacob Nottingham, C, designated for assignment.

Seattle’s Major League, 40-man, roster remains full at 40 players.

Thomas (#27) will be in uniform and available for tonight’s game (4:10 pm PT) vs. Detroit.

Thomas, 28, will make his Major League debut with this first appearance with the Mariners. He has appeared in 25 games with Triple-A Tacoma this season, batting .338 (27x80) with 22 runs scored, 5 doubles, 6 home runs, 19 RBI, 4 stolen bases and 12 walks. Defensively, he has played all 3 outfield positions in Tacoma, including 5 games in center field, 7 games in left field and 10 games in right field.

Thomas signed with the Mariners as a minor league free agent on Jan. 14, 2021 and received an invite to Major League Spring Training. He was originally selected by the Colorado Rockies in the 4th round of the 2011 MLB First-Year Player Draft out of Westbury Christian School (TX). Overall, has appeared in parts of 10 minor league seasons in the Rockies (2011–2017), Brewers (2018–19) and Mariners organizations (2021), batting .263 (614x2331) with 291 runs scored, 138 doubles, 43 home runs, 19 triples, 43 home runs, 297 RBI, 190 walks and 100 stolen bases in 670 games.

Nottingham, 26, began his second stint with the Mariners on May 20. He was previously claimed off waivers from Milwaukee on April 28 earlier this season, but did not appear in a game before being traded back to the Brewers on May 2 in exchange for cash considerations. Overall, he has appeared in 15 games with Milwaukee (5 G) and Seattle (10 G) this season, batting a combined .150 (6x40) with 5 runs, 1 double, 3 home runs and 6 RBI.

Nottingham was originally selected by the Astros in the 6th round of the 2013 MLB First-Year Player Draft out of Redlands High School (CA). He made his Major League debut with Milwaukee on April 16, 2018 vs. Cincinnati. Overall, he appeared in 53 Major League games with Milwaukee (2018–21) and Seattle (2021), batting .184 (21x114) with 16 runs, 3 doubles, 8 home runs, 23 RBI, and 11 walks.
