ARLINGTON, Texas — Seattle Mariners Executive Vice President & General Manager of Baseball Operations Justin Hollander announced today the following roster move:

  • Mike Ford (#20), INF, selected from Triple-A Tacoma.

The Mariners Major League, 40-man roster is full at 40 players.

Ford, 30, was selected from Triple-A Tacoma. He is batting .302 (52x172) with 35 runs, 11 doubles, 1 triple, 12 home runs, 56 RBI and 2 stolen bases while getting on base at a .427 clip and slugging .605 (1.031 OPS) in 49 games with the Rainiers. Ford’s 56 RBI rank 2nd among all minor league hitters. He has appeared in 10 games at first base and 38 as the designated hitter with Tacoma. Ford played in 16 games with the Mariners in 2022.

During the 2022 season, the Belle Mead, NJ-born infielder appeared in 50 Major League games with 4 different franchises (San Francisco, Seattle, Atlanta and Los Angeles-AL), batting .206 (27x131) with 5 doubles, 3 home runs and 10 RBI, with a .302 on base percentage and a .313 slugging percentage (.615 OPS). He also appeared for each team’s Triple-A Affiliate in 2022.

Ford has appeared in parts of 4 Major League seasons with New York-AL (2019–21), San Francisco (2022), Seattle (2022-c), Atlanta (2022) and Los Angeles-AL (2022), batting .201 (82x408) with 50 runs, 16 doubles, 20 home runs and 51 RBI while getting on base at a .301 clip and slugging .387 (.689 OPS).

Ford was originally signed by the New York Yankees as an undrafted free agent on July 17, 2013. He has appeared in parts of 10 minor league seasons, batting .268 (743x2775) with 427 runs scored, 156 doubles, 8 triples, 118 home runs and 479 RBI with a .372 on base percentage and a .457 slugging percentage (.829 OPS).
