KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Seattle Mariners Executive Vice President & General Manager of Baseball Operations Justin Hollander announced today the following roster moves:

· Brian O’Keefe (#64), C, selected from Triple-A Tacoma.

· Tom Murphy, C, placed on 10-day Injured List (left thumb sprain, retroactive to Aug. 14).

The Mariners Major League, 40-man roster is now full at 40 players.

O’Keefe, 30, has appeared in 86 games with the Rainiers this season, batting .240 (80x333) with 59 runs, 24 doubles, 22 home runs, 65 RBI and 42 walks. O’Keefe is the only player in the Mariners organization with 20+ doubles and 20+ homers this season.

The backstop made his Major League debut with Seattle last season, going 1-for-2 with a walk on Oct. 1 vs. Oakland and appearing in 2 total games. The right-handed hitter has appeared in 739 career minor league games, batting .250 (674x2699) with 370 runs, 155 doubles, 5 triples, 115 homers, 413 RBI and 323 walks, getting on base at a .338 clip, slugging .439 with a .776 OPS.

O’Keefe was originally selected by the St. Louis Cardinals in the 7th round of the 2014 MLB First-Year Player Draft out of St. Joseph’s University (PA). The Albany, New York native has spent time in the Cardinals (2014–19) and Mariners organization (2021-c).

Murphy, 32, is batting .290 (42x145) with 19 runs, 12 doubles, 8 home runs, 17 RBI and 10 walks, getting on base at a .335 clip, slugging .538 with an .873 OPS in 47 games with Seattle this season. Murphy ranks in the top-3 among MLB catchers in batting average (T-3rd), slugging percentage (3rd) and OPS (3rd) this season, minimum 100 plate appearances.

Murphy has appeared in 233 games with Seattle (2019-c), batting .250 (179x715) with 95 runs, 34 doubles, 1 triple, 38 homers, 92 RBI and 77 walks with a .784 OPS. In total, he’s appeared in 314 Major League games with Colorado (2015–18) and Seattle, batting .244 (222x911) with 114 runs, 45 doubles, 2 triples, 48 homers, 126 RBI and 90 walks with a .769 OPS.

The Upstate New York native was originally selected by the Colorado Rockies in the 3rd round of the 2012 MLB First-Year Player Draft out of the University of Buffalo (NY). Murphy was selected off waivers by San Francisco on March 25, 2019 and then traded to the Mariners 4 days later in exchange for minor league right-handed pitcher Jesus Ozoria.
