CHICAGO, Ill. — Seattle Mariners Executive Vice President & General Manager of Baseball Operations Justin Hollander announced today the following roster moves:

· J.P. Crawford, INF, reinstated from 7-day Injured List (concussion).

· Darren McCaughan, RHP, recalled from Triple-A Tacoma.

· Sam Haggerty, INF/OF, optioned to Triple-A Tacoma.

· Emerson Hancock, RHP, placed on 15-day Injured List (right shoulder strain).

Crawford, 28, is batting .266 (102x384) with 63 runs, 26 doubles, 10 home runs, 38 RBI and 68 walks, getting on base at a .379 clip, slugging .411 with a .790 OPS in 107 games with the Mariners this season. The shortstop ranks 3rd in the American League in on-base percentage (.379) and 4th in walks (68) this season.

J.P. appeared in one rehab game with High-A Everett on Aug. 19. He left the Mariners game on Aug. 9 vs. San Diego after he was involved in an infield collision with Eugenio Suárez fielding a ground ball. Crawford was placed on the 7-day Injured List (concussion) on Aug. 11, retroactive to Aug. 10.

Crawford has appeared in 7 Major League seasons with Philadelphia (2017–18) and Seattle (2019-c), batting .251 (567x2257) with 125 doubles, 13 triples, 37 home runs, 222 RBI, 21 stolen bases and 289 walks, getting on base at a .341 clip, slugging .367 with a .708 OPS in 630 career games. The shortstop was acquired along with INF Carlos Santana from Philadelphia in exchange for RHP Juan Nicasio, LHP James Pazos and INF Jean Segura on Dec. 3, 2018. Crawford was originally selected by the Phillies in the 1st round (16th overall) of the 2013 MLB First-Year Player Draft out of Lakewood High School (CA).

McCaughan (mih-CACK-en), 27, is 6–6 with a 5.99 ERA (75 ER, 112.2 IP) with 31 walks and 106 strikeouts in 20 starts with Triple-A Tacoma this season. In 2 relief appearances with the Mariners this season on April 17 and May 30, McCaughan is 0–0 with a 6.75 ERA (3 ER, 4.0 IP) with 3 walks and 7 strikeouts.

McCaughan was drafted by Seattle in the 12th round of the 2017 MLB First-Year Player Draft out of Long Beach State (CA). The Los Alamitos, California native has appeared in 4 Major League games (one start), all with Seattle (2021-c). He is 0–0 with a 7.62 ERA (11 ER, 13.0 IP) with 7 walks and 9 strikeouts.

Haggerty (HAG-er-tee), 29, was recalled by Seattle on Aug. 11. In 8 games during this most recent stint with the Mariners, he batted .273 (3x11) with a .930 OPS, hitting his first home run of the season on Aug. 19 at Houston.

In 42 games with Tacoma this season, Haggerty is batting .319 (53x166) with 37 runs, 12 doubles, 4 triples, 8 home runs, 29 RBI, 18 stolen bases and 24 walks. The infielder/outfielder has appeared in 32 games with Seattle this season, batting .208 (11x53) with 10 runs, 2 doubles, 1 home run, 3 RBI, 4 stolen bases and 7 walks.

Haggerty has appeared in 5 Major League seasons with the New York Mets (2019) and Mariners (2020-c), hitting .230 (85x369) with 63 runs, 18 doubles, 1 triple, 9 home runs, 37 RBI, 35 walks and is 26-for-29 in stolen base attempts in 174 games. He was originally selected by Cleveland in the 24th round of the 2015 MLB First-Year Player Draft out of the University of New Mexico.

Hancock, 24, was selected from Double-A Arkansas on Aug. 9 and made his Major League debut with Seattle that night in a start vs. the Padres, tossing 5.0 innings of one-run ball. In 3 starts with the Mariners, Hancock is 0–0 with a 4.50 ERA (6 ER, 12.0 IP) with 3 walks and 6 strikeouts.

The right-hander left his start yesterday at Houston, tossing 2.0 scoreless innings before leaving with a right shoulder strain.

Hancock is ranked as the Mariners #1 pitching prospect, and #4 overall prospect in the organization, according to MLB.com. He is 11–5 with a 4.32 ERA (47 ER, 98.0 IP) with 38 walks and 107 strikeouts in 20 starts with Double-A Arkansas this season and was named Texas League Pitcher of the Month (June), Mariners Minor League Pitcher of the Month (June) and 2-time Texas League Pitcher of the Week (July 2 and July 23).

The Cairo, Georgia native was originally selected by Seattle in the 1st round (6th overall) of the 2020 MLB First-Year Player Draft out of the University of Georgia, where he pitched collegiately with the Bulldogs for 3 seasons (2018–20). In 53 career minor league starts in the Mariners organization, Hancock is 21–10 with a 3.77 ERA (101 ER, 241.0 IP) with 93 walks and 242 strikeouts. He represented the Mariners at the All-Star Futures Game in both 2021 and 2022.
