CHICAGO, Ill. — Seattle Mariners Executive Vice President & General Manager of Baseball Operations Jerry Dipoto announced today the following roster moves:

  • Yohan Ramirez, RHP, recalled from Triple-A Tacoma.
  • Marco Gonzales, LHP, placed on Paternity List.

Ramírez, 26, will be in uniform (#55) and is eligible for the conclusion of yesterday’s suspended game. He was optioned to Triple-A Tacoma on June 22. In 2 games with Seattle this season, the right-hander is 0–0 with a 6.75 ERA (3 ER, 4.0 IP) with no walks and 4 strikeouts.

He’s appeared in 11 games with the Rainiers this season, going 0–0 with a 3.77 ERA (6 ER, 14.1 IP) with 11 hits allowed, 7 walks and 20 strikeouts. The right-hander made his Major League debut with Seattle on July 24, 2020 and is 0–0 with a 3.28 ERA (9 ER, 24.2 IP) and 3 saves with 11 hits allowed, 22 walks and 30 strikeouts in 18 relief appearances between 2020–21.

The Dominican Republic native was selected by Seattle in the Rule 5 draft (6th overall pick) from Houston on December 12, 2019.

Gonzales, 29, is 1–4, 5.10 (27 ER, 47.2 IP) in 9 starts 19 walks, 42 strikeouts and 10 homers allowed this season. He made his third consecutive Opening Day start on April 1 vs. San Francisco.

Gonzales was 7–2, 3.10 (24 ER, 69.2 IP) in 11 starts in 2020. He led the American League in walks-per-9.0-innings at 0.90 (7 BB, 69.2 IP) and strikeout to walk ratio at 9.14 (64 SO, 7 BB). Among AL leaders, he also ranked T2nd in wins, 3rd in WHIP (0.95), 7th in Inning Pitched, 8th in ERA, 9th in HR-per-9.0-innings (1.03), T9th in Quality Starts and 10th in Opponents Average Against.

Gonzales was originally acquired by the Mariners from St. Louis in exchange for outfielder Tyler O’Neill on July 21, 2017. He was drafted by the Cardinals in the 1st round (19th overall) of the 2013 MLB First-Year Player Draft out of Gonzaga University. He has appeared in parts of 7 Major League seasons with St. Louis (2014–15 & 2017) and Seattle (2017-c), going 42–31 with a 4.18 ERA (262 ER, 564.1 IP) with 146 walks and 462 strikeouts over 105 career games (97 starts).
