SEATTLE, Wash. — Seattle Mariners Executive Vice President & General Manager of Baseball Operations Justin Hollander announced today the following roster moves:

· Prelander Berroa, (\PRAY-lander beh-ROH-uh\), RHP, recalled from Double-A Arkansas.

· Eduard Bazardo, RHP, optioned to ACL Mariners.

Berroa, 23, made his Major League debut on July 21 vs. Toronto, his only Major League appearance this season.

The Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic native went 5–1 with 6 saves, a 2.89 (21 ER, 65.1 IP), 39 walks and 101 strikeouts with a 1.286 WHIP in 43 games (5 starts) with Double-A Arkansas. His last appearance came on Sept. 26 at Amarillo in Game 2 of the Texas League Championship Series, tossing 2.0 innings allowing 1 run on 1 hit (HR) with 2 strikeouts.

Berroa is ranked as the #15 prospect in the Mariners organization by MLB.com.

The right-hander was acquired by Seattle from San Francisco in exchange for infielder Donovan Walton on May 11, 2022. In 124 career minor league games (77 starts), Berroa is 21–12 with 6 saves and a 3.58 ERA (149 ER, 374.2 IP) with 210 walks and 498 strikeouts. He recorded a career-high 150 strikeouts in 2022. The Dominican Republic native was originally signed as an international free agent by the Minnesota Twins on July 2, 2016.

Bazardo (buh-ZAR-doh), 28, made 9 appearances with the Mariners, going 0–0 with a 2.63 ERA (4 ER, 13.2 IP), 4 walks and 14 strikeouts after being acquired from the Baltimore Orioles in exchange for minor league right-handed pitcher Logan Rinehart on Aug. 1.

He has appeared in 3 Major League seasons with Boston (2021–22), Baltimore (2023) and Seattle (2023-c), going 1–0 with a 3.31 ERA (13 ER, 35.1 IP) with 10 walks and 29 strikeouts. The right-hander made his Major League debut with the Red Sox on April 14, 2021 vs. Minnesota. The Maracay, Venezuela native originally signed with Boston as an international free agent on Sept. 4, 2014.
