Mariners Recall RHP Juan Then From Triple-A Tacoma

SEATTLE, Wash. — Seattle Mariners Executive Vice President & General Manager of Baseball Operations Justin Hollander announced today the following roster move:
· Juan Then, RHP, recalled from Triple-A Tacoma.

Then, (pronounced ‘Ten’), 23, was recalled from Triple-A Tacoma. He has made 12 appearances for Tacoma since being optioned on May 30, going 1–1 with a 13.19 ERA (21 ER, 14.1 IP) with 12 walks and 8 strikeouts. Then made his Major League debut on May 6, tossing a scoreless inning. Overall, he appeared in 9 games with the Mariners with a 4.91 ERA (6 ER, 11.0 IP), 5 strikeouts and 2 walks. He is ranked as the Mariners #23 overall prospect according to MLB.com.
The San Francisco de Macoris, Dominican Republic-born right-hander was originally signed by the Mariners on July 2, 2016. He was traded to the New York Yankees along with LHP JP Sears in exchange for RHP Nick Rumbelow on November 18, 2017. He was reacquired by Seattle on June 15, 2019 in exchange for INF Edwin Encarnación.
The 6-foot-1, 200 lbs pitcher has appeared in parts of 6 minor league seasons. He has a career 3.79 ERA (99 ER, 235.0 IP) with 232 strikeouts and 66 walks over 68 games (49 starts) in the minor leagues.
