Mariners Recall OF Jarred Kelenic from Triple-A Tacoma

SEATTLE, Wash. — Seattle Mariners Executive Vice President & General Manager of Baseball Operations Jerry Dipoto announced today that the Mariners have recalled outfielder Jarred Kelenic from Triple-A Tacoma.

Seattle’s active roster is now full at 26 players.

Kelenic, 22, made his Major League debut on May 13 vs. Cleveland. In his second career game on May 14 vs. Cleveland, the outfielder went 3-for-4 with 2 doubles, 1 home run and 3 RBI. He was optioned to Triple-A Tacoma on June 6 after appearing in 23 games with Seattle. In 30 games with Triple-A Tacoma this season, he is batting .320 (40x125) with 29 runs scored, 9 doubles, 1 triple, 9 home runs, 28 RBI, 15 walks and 6 stolen bases.

The 6-foot-1, 190-pound, outfielder is rated as the №4 overall prospect by MLB Pipeline and №1 in the Mariners organization. The Wisconsin native was acquired by the Mariners from the Mets along with Jay Bruce, Anthony Swarzak, Gerson Bautista and Justin Dunn in exchange for Robinson Canó, Edwin Díaz and cash considerations on Dec. 3, 2018.

Kelenic was originally selected by the Mets with the 6th overall pick in the 2018 MLB First-Year Player Draft out of Waukesha West High School (WI), becoming the 7th Wisconsin native to ever be selected in the first round. Overall, he has appeared in parts of 3 minor league seasons in the Mets (2018) and Mariners (2019 & 2021) organizations, batting .294 (232x788) with 151 runs, 50 doubles, 12 triples, 38 home runs, 139 RBI, 91 walks and 41 stolen bases in 203 games.
