SEATTLE, Wash. — Seattle Mariners President of Baseball Operations Jerry Dipoto announced today the following roster moves:

· Brennan Bernardino, LHP, recalled from Triple-A Tacoma.

· Ryan Borucki, LHP, placed on 15-day Injured List (left flexor strain).

Bernardino, 30, appeared with Seattle on August 6 when he was appointed as the 27th man for the doubleheader against the Los Angeles Angels. He has appeared in 2 games with Seattle this season, going 0–1 with a 3.86 ERA (1 ER, 2.1 IP) with 3 hits and 2 walks. The left-hander made his MLB debut on July 31 at Houston. Bernardino has also appeared in 8 games with the Rainiers this season, going 2–0 with a 0.73 ERA (1 ER, 12.1 IP) with 3 walks and 17 strikeouts. He was signed by the Mariners to a minor league contract on June 27.

From 2019–22, he appeared in 139 games (32 starts) in Mexico, going 12–11 with 8 saves and a 3.62 ERA (97 ER, 241.0 IP) with 87 walks and 229 strikeouts.

The Valencia, California native was originally selected by the Cincinnati Reds in the 26th round of the 2014 MLB First-Year Player Draft out of Cal State-Dominguez Hills in Carson, California. The 6-foot-3 left-hander has made 183 minor league appearances in the Reds (2014–18), Guardians (2019) and Mariners (2022) organizations, going 14–12 with 15 saves and a 3.65 ERA (92 ER, 227.0 IP) with 89 walks and 232 strikeouts.

Borucki, 28, has appeared in 21 games for Seattle this season, going 2–0 with a 4.26 ERA (9 ER, 19.0 IP) with 6 walks and 13 strikeouts. He made his Mariners debut this season after being acquired by Seattle from Toronto in exchange for minor league infielder Tyler Keenan on June 4.

Borucki made his Major League debut with Toronto on June 26, 2018, tossing a quality start at Houston. The 6-foot-4 lefty started each of his first 19 career appearances in 2018–19 and has appeared exclusively out of the bullpen since the 2020 season (77 appearances). The Mundelein, Illinois native was selected by Toronto in the 15th round of the 2012 MLB First-Year Player Draft out of Mundelein High School (Illinois).
