SEATTLE, Wash. — Seattle Mariners President of Baseball Operations Jerry Dipoto announced today the following roster moves:

· Donovan Walton, INF, recalled from Triple-A Tacoma.

· Mitch Haniger, OF, placed on Injured List.

Seattle’s Major League, 40-man, roster is now at 39 players.

Walton, 27, is batting .381 (8x21) with 4 runs, 1 double, 1 triple, 1 RBI, 1 stolen base and 4 walks in 5 games with the Rainiers this season. In 2021, he appeared in 24 games with Seattle, batting .206 (13x63) with 6 runs, 2 doubles, 1 triple, 2 home runs, 7 RBI, 1 stolen base and 4 walks.

The left-handed batting, right-handed throwing infielder has appeared in 36 career games with Seattle, batting .196 (18x92) with 8 runs, 3 doubles, 1 triple, 2 home runs, 12 RBI, 1 stolen base and 8 walks. He made his Major League debut on Sept. 10, 2019 vs. Cincinnati. Walton was selected by the Mariners in the 5th round of the 2016 MLB First-Year Player Draft out of Oklahoma State University. In 432 career minor league games in the Mariners organization, he is batting .288 (474x1645) with 265 runs, 93 doubles, 11 triples, 37 home runs, 204 RBI, 37 stolen bases and 203 walks.

Haniger, 31, leads the Mariners this season in home runs (3), RBI (7) and total bases (16). In 8 games, he is batting .176 (6x34) with 3 runs, 1 double, 3 home runs, 7 RBI and 1 walk. In 2021, Haniger ranked 1st in runs (110), T1st in home runs (39), 2nd in RBI (100), 2nd in total bases (301) and T3rd in extra-base hits (64) among American League outfielders.

Haniger was selected by Milwaukee in the 1st round (38th overall) of the 2012 MLB First-Year Player Draft out of Cal Poly-San Luis Obispo. He was acquired by Seattle from Arizona on Nov. 23, 2016 and made his Mariners debut on April 3, 2017. In 481 games with the Mariners, Haniger is batting .263 (491x1865) with 307 runs, 100 doubles, 9 triples, 99 home runs, 279 RBI, 18 stolen bases and 186 walks.
