SEATTLE, Wash. — Seattle Mariners Executive Vice President & General Manager of Baseball Operations Jerry Dipoto announced today the following roster moves:

· Donovan Walton, INF, recalled from Triple-A Tacoma.

· Evan White, INF, placed on 10-day Injured List (strained left hip flexor).

Walton (#31) will be in uniform and available for tonight’s game vs. Cleveland.

Walton, 26, is batting .313 (10x32) with 3 runs, 2 doubles, 4 RBI and 2 walks in 7 games with Triple-A Tacoma this season. He was appointed as 27th man for the April 13 doubleheader at Baltimore. The left-handed hitting infielder started the year at the Mariners Alternate Training Site. In 2020, made two stints with the Mariners: Aug. 31 and Sept. 11–15. Overall, he hit .154 (2x13) with 1 double, 3 RBI and 1 walk in 5 games.

Walton made his Major League debut with the Mariners on Sept. 10, 2019 against the Cincinnati Reds as a defensive replacement. The 5-foot-10, 175-pound infielder appeared in 7 games with the Mariners in 2019, batting .188 (3x16) with 2 runs scored, 2 RBI and 3 walks.

The former Oklahoma State University Cowboy has appeared in parts of 4 minor league seasons in the Mariners organization, batting .283 (380x1341) with 211 runs, 72 doubles, 9 triples, 24 home runs, 143 RBI, 164 walks and 35 stolen bases in 358 games. Walton was the Mariners 5th round selection in the 2016 MLB First-Year Player Draft.

White, 25, has appeared in 30 games with the Mariners this season, batting .144 (14x97) with 8 runs scored, 3 doubles, 2 home runs, 9 RBI and 6 walks. The right-handed hitting, left-handed fielding first baseman spent time on the Bereavement List this season from April 30-May 3.

White appeared in 54 games with the Mariners during his rookie season in 2020. He led all American League first baseman with 7 Defensive Runs Saved and 7 Scoops on his way to becoming the first ever rookie first baseman to win a Gold Glove Award since the award was created in 1957. He was the second Mariners first baseman to win a Gold Glove, joining John Olerud (2000, 2002 & 2003).

White was originally selected by the Mariners in the 1st round of the 2017 MLB First-Year Player Draft (17th overall) out of the University of Kentucky. He made his Major League debut with the Mariners on July 24, 2020 at Houston, and has appeared in parts of 2 Major League seasons with the Mariners (2020-c). Overall, he is batting .165 (46x279) with 27 runs, 10 doubles, 10 home runs, 35 RBI, 24 walks and 1 stolen base in 84 career games.
