SEATTLE, Wash. — Seattle Mariners Executive Vice President & General Manager of Baseball Operations Jerry Dipoto announced today that the Mariners have re-signed Kendall Graveman to a 2021 Major League contract.

Seattle’s Major League, 40-man roster is now at 32 players.

Graveman, 29, pitched in 11 games (2 starts) for the Mariners in 2020, going 1–3 with a 5.79 ERA (12 ER, 18.2 IP), 15 strikeouts and 8 walks. Following his first two starts of the season, Graveman missed 27 games after being placed on the 10-Day Injured List on Aug. 4 (retroactive to Aug. 3) with a neck spasm. After returning from the Injured List, he went 1–1 with a 3.60 ERA (4 ER, 10.0 IP) in 9 relief appearances. The Mariners held a club option for 2021 for Graveman, but declined with the intention of restructuring a new contract for 2021. The right-hander made 2 starts during Summer Camp at T-Mobile Park, going 2–0 with a 1.29 ERA (1 ER, 7.0 IP) with 13 strikeouts and 2 walks. In 2 Cactus League starts with the Mariners this spring, he did not record a decision while tossing 4.0 scoreless innings, walking 2 and striking out 3.

Graveman signed with the Mariners on Nov. 26, 2019. The 6-foot-2, 200-pound right-hander underwent Tommy John Surgery on July 30, 2018 and missed most of the 2019 season while rehabbing in the Cubs organization.

Graveman has appeared in parts of 6 Major League seasons with Toronto (2014), Oakland (2015–18) and Seattle (2020), going 24–32 with a 4.44 ERA (229 ER, 464.2 IP) with 301 strikeouts and 138 walks in 94 games (80 starts). He was selected by Toronto in the 8th round of the 2013 MLB First-Year Player Draft and made his MLB debut with the Blue Jays on September 5, 2014 after making just 37 starts in the minor leagues. He was traded to Oakland on November 28, 2014, along with Sean Nolin (lhp), Brett Lawrie (inf) and Franklin Barreto (inf) in exchange for Josh Donaldson (inf).
