Mariners Option RHP Drew Steckenrider To Triple-A Tacoma
Seattle’s 26-man active roster is now at 25 players
SEATTLE, Wash. — Seattle Mariners President of Baseball Operations Jerry Dipoto announced today the following roster move:
- Drew Steckenrider, RHP, optioned to Triple-A Tacoma (post-game May 25).
Seattle’s Major League, 26-man active roster is now at 25 players.
Steckenrider, 31, has appeared in 16 games out of the Mariners bullpen this season, going 0–2 with 2 saves and a 5.65 ERA (9 ER, 14.1 IP), while walking 5 and striking out 10. He missed 3 games on the restricted list from May 16–19.
The right-hander was signed by Seattle to a minor league contract on Nov. 20, 2020. The Atlanta, Ga. native was originally drafted by the Miami Marlins in the 8th round of the 2012 MLB First-Year Player Draft out of the University of Tennessee (Knoxville, Tenn.). Steckenrider has appeared in 5 Major League seasons with Miami (2017–19) and Seattle (2021–22), going 10–11 with a 3.27 ERA (71 ER, 195.2 IP) and 22 saves in 201 career games.
