MARINERS SIGN JUSTIN UPTON…yesterday the Mariners signed outfielder Justin Upton to a 1-year Major League contract…right-hander Adrian Sampson was designated for assignment…Upton will report to extended spring training in Peoria, Arizona…the 34-year-old outfielder has appeared in 15 Major League seasons (2007–21) and is a 4-time All-Star and 3-time Silver Slugger Award winner…Upton in his Major League career has 1,748 hits, 324 home runs and 1,000 RBI.

THEY GOT CHILI DOGS OVER THERE?Ty France is batting .323 (53x164) with 17 runs, 7 doubles, 6 home runs, 28 RBI, 13 walks and 6 hit-by-pitches…he’s gotten on base at a .391 clip, slugging .476 with an .867 OPS and 163 wRC+…among qualified American League batters, France ranks 4th in batting average, 2nd in hits, T4th in RBI, 6th in total bases (78), 5th in OBP and 10th in OPS.
