HOUSTON, Texas — Seattle Mariners Executive Vice President & General Manager of Baseball Operations Jerry Dipoto announced today the following roster moves:

· Jacob Nottingham, C, claimed off waivers from Milwaukee.

· Brandon Brennan, RHP, designated for assignment.

Nottingham, 26, has been added to the Mariners 40-man roster. A corresponding move will be made when Nottingham reports to the club. The right-handed hitting catcher has appeared in 38 Major League games with Milwaukee in 3 seasons (2018–20), batting .203 (15x74) with 11 runs, 2 doubles, 5 home runs, 17 RBI, 9 walks and 30 strikeouts.

Nottingham was designated for assignment by Milwaukee on April 22. He underwent surgery on the radial collateral ligament on his left thumb in December 2020. He last appeared in a game on Oct. 1, 2020, starting at catcher for the Brewers in Game 2 of the Wild Card round at Los Angeles-NL.

The California-native was originally selected by the Houston Astros in the 6th round of the 2013 MLB First-Year Player Draft out of Redlands (Calif.) High School. He was traded by Houston with RHP Daniel Mengden to Oakland in exchange for LHP Scott Kazmir on July 23, 2015. He was traded by Oakland with RHP Bubba Derby to Milwaukee in exchange for OF Khris Davis on Feb. 12, 2016. He made his Major League debut for Milwaukee on April 16, 2018.

Brennan, 29, appeared in 5 games with Seattle in 2020, going 0–0 with a 3.68 ERA (3 ER, 7.1 IP) with 5 walks and 7 strikeouts.

Last season, the right-hander was placed on the 10-day Injured List with a strained left oblique on July 27 (retroactive to July 26) and was transferred to the 45-day IL on Aug. 1. He made 1 appearance prior to his IL stint and made 4 appearances after he was activated off the 45-day IL on Sept. 15.

Brennan has appeared in 49 Major League games in 2019–20, all with Seattle, compiling a 3–6 record with a 4.45 ERA (27 ER, 54.2 IP) with 29 walks and 54 strikeouts. The California-native was originally selected by Chicago-AL in the 4th round of the 2012 First-Year Player Draft out of Orange Coast College in Costa Mesa, CA. He signed as a minor league free agent with Colorado on Nov. 13, 2018 and was selected by Seattle in the Rule 5 Draft from Colorado on Dec. 13, 2018.
