Mariners Announce ACL & DSL Staff for 2023 Season

Seattle’s minor league affiliate staffs have been finalized

SEATTLE, Wash. — Seattle Mariners President of Baseball Operations Jerry Dipoto, Director of Player Development Justin Toole and Senior Director of High Performance Rob Scheidegger announced today the Arizona Complex League (ACL) Mariners and Dominican Summer League (DSL) Mariners staff for the 2023 season.

ACL MARINERS

Luis Caballero begins his eighth season in the Mariners organization and his second as Manager for the ACL Mariners. He has spent each of the previous 5 seasons (2017–21) with the DSL Mariners, serving as Manager in 2021 and as a Coach from 2017–20. He signed with Atlanta as an amateur free agent out of Panama in 2010, appearing in 307 career minor league games with the Braves and Mariners organizations from 2010–15. After his playing career ended, he joined Single-A Clinton in 2016 as a coach.

Rico Reyes joins the Mariners organization as the ACL Mariners Outfield/Baserunning Coach. He most recently was the Recruiting Coordinator/Assistant Coach at Odessa College (TX).

Brett Schneider begins his fourth season in the organization and his second as Hitting Coach for the ACL Mariners. Prior to his current role, in 2021 he served as Hitting Coach for the DSL Mariners under current ACL Mariners manager Luis Caballero. Prior to joining the organization, Schneider was the Director of Baseball Operations and a coach at Florida Atlantic University since 2016.

Todd Carroll joins the Mariners organization as the ACL Mariners Pitching Coach. For the last 13 years (2010–22), he was the Recruiting Coordinator/Pitching Coach at MIT. During that time, MIT made 5 NCAA Baseball Tournament appearances after a 37-year absence. Carroll was named the 2015 New England College Baseball Assistant Coach of the Year.

Randy Roetter, ATC returns for his 36th season in the Mariners organization and his 22nd as ACL Mariners Athletic Trainer, a position he has held since 2002. He is member of the National Athletic Trainers’ Association and the National Strength and Conditioning Association and a licensed massage therapist and a medical massage practitioner. Cesar Velazquez-Mosqueda returns for his third season in the organization and his first as Strength & Conditioning Coach for the ACL Mariners, previously serving in that role with the DSL Mariners in 2022 and as a Performance Coach with Modesto in 2021.

DSL MARINERS

Jose Amancio begins his seventh season in the organization and his first as Manager of the DSL Mariners. He served as the team’s Pitching Coach from 2018–22. Prior to joining the Mariners, he spent 4 seasons with the MLB Development Program as a pitching coach for international talent in the Dominican Republic from 2013–16. The D.R. native went 10–6 with a 4.95 ERA in 28 career minor league appearances in the Oakland Athletics organization from 2000–01.

Guady Jabalera, who will serve as Bench Coach, is in his fifth season as a coach for the DSL Mariners. The San Pedro de Macoris native began coaching in the Seattle Mariners system in 1991. Through the years, Jabalera has made a big impact in the Dominican Winter League. He won 5 championships with Licey of Santo Domingo, and one with Aguilas. Three of those teams went on to win Caribbean Series Championships.

Jesus Galindo joins the Mariners organization as Baserunning/Defense Coach for the DSL Mariners. Galindo played 7 seasons of minor league baseball (2009–15) and made the 2013 Futures Game Roster. The Caucagua, Venezuela native most recently has been coaching in the Dominican Winter League for Gigantes del Cibao.

Bryan Pall begins his coaching career as Pitching Coach for the DSL Mariners. The 27-year-old was selected by the Mariners in the 25th round of the 2017 MLB First-Year Player Draft out of the University of Michigan and appeared in 3 minor league seasons (2019, ’21–22) in the organization, including 11 games with High-A Everett last season.

Devin Fujioka enters his second season as Hitting Coach with the DSL Mariners. Prior to joining the Mariners organization, in 2021 he served as a baseball volunteer assistant for Austin Peay State University (TN).

Ramire Cleto and Alfredo Alcantara will each serve as Strength & Conditioning Coaches for the DSL Mariners, while Ronaldo De La Cruz will serve as the team’s Athletic Trainer.
