Seattle Mariners Executive Vice President & General Manager of Baseball Operations Jerry Dipoto announced today the club’s 60-player training roster as the club returns to the field to prepare for the resumption of the 2020 Major League Baseball season.

As part of finalizing the 60-player roster, Dipoto also announced today that outfielder Mitch Haniger, who is continuing his recovery from lumbar microdiscectomy surgery performed on Feb. 13, has been placed on the 60-day injured list.

Haniger is not on the 60-player training roster but can be added back to the active roster upon his return from the injured list. Thus, he remains eligible for the 2020 regular season.

The training roster consists of all 37 active players on the Mariners Major League, 40-man, roster and right-handed pitcher Austin Adams, who is currently on the 60-day IL but is expected to be able to fully participate in camp. All 38 players were also in the Mariners original Spring Training Camp that began in February.

The 38 roster players in camp include 21 Pitchers: Austin Adams, Dan Altavilla, Gerson Bautista, Brandon Brennan, Nestor Cortes, Justin Dunn, Carl Edwards Jr., Marco Gonzales, Kendall Graveman, Zac Grotz, Taylor Guilbeau, Yoshihisa Hirano, Yusei Kikuchi, Matt Magill, Nick Margevicius, Yohan Ramirez, Justus Sheffield, Erik Swanson, Taijuan Walker, Art Warren and Taylor Williams; 2 Catchers: Tom Murphy and Austin Nola; 11 Infielders: J.P. Crawford, Dee Gordon, Sam Haggerty, Shed Long Jr., Tim Lopes, Dylan Moore, Kyle Seager, Daniel Vogelbach, Donovan Walton, Evan White and Patrick Wisdom; 4 Outfielders: Braden Bishop, Jake Fraley, Kyle Lewis and Mallex Smith.

Of the 22 players that have been added to the training roster (in addition to the 40-man roster players), 12 were non-roster invitees to Spring Training in February: 6 Pitchers: Sam Delaplane, Aaron Fletcher, Joey Gerber, Logan Gilbert, Anthony Misiewicz and Ljay Newsome; 3 Catchers: Joe Hudson, Brian O’Keefe and Cal Raleigh; 1 Infielder: José Marmolejos; and 2 Outfielders: Jarred Kelenic and Julio Rodriguez.

The 10 players who have been added to the 60-man for the resumption of camp include 5 Pitchers: Isaiah Campbell, Emerson Hancock, George Kirby, Juan Then and Brandon Williamson; 4 Infielders: Tyler Keenan, Noelvi Marte, Kaden Polcovich and Austin Shenton; and 1 Outfielder: Zach DeLoach.

Hancock (1st Round), DeLoach (2nd round), Polcovich (3rd round) and Keenan (4th round) were selected in the 2020 First Year Player Draft earlier this month. Campbell was the Mariners Competitive Balance Round 2 (76th overall selection) pick in the 2019 Draft but did not appear in a minor league game last season.

The official reporting day for the resumption of training is Wednesday, July 1. “Full” workouts are expected to begin on Friday, July 3. The 2020 regular season will begin on either Thursday, July 23 or Friday, July 24.

The Mariners training roster is currently at 60 players (37 on 40-man roster + 1 60-day IL player and 22 non-roster), including 32 pitchers (11 non-roster), 5 catchers (3 non-roster), 16 infielders (5 non-roster) and 7 outfielders (3 non-roster).
