Kyle Seager Records 500th Career RBI

Kyle Seager joined an exclusive list of Mariners legends on Friday night in Tampa Bay. With a 1st inning RBI-groundout against the Rays, Seager recorded his 500th career RBI.

Seager becomes the 10th player in club history to collect at least 500 RBI with the Mariners, joining Edgar Martinez (1,261), Ken Griffey Jr. (1,216), Jay Buhner (951), Alvin Davis (667), Ichiro Suzuki (633), Raul Ibañez (612), Alex Rodriguez (595), Bret Boone (535) and Dan Wilson (508).

Since Seager’s debut on July 7, 2011, he ranks 3rd among Major League 3rd baseman in RBI, trailing only Texas’ Adrian Beltre (548) and Tampa Bay’s Evan Longoria (531).

Seager is one of 4 Mariners to reach the 500-RBI plateau in his first 7 Major League seasons. The only other Mariners to tally 500 RBI in their first 7 seasons are Davis, who recorded 598 RBI in his first 7 seasons, Rodriguez, who reached 595 RBI in 7 years, and Griffey, who had 585 RBI through 7 seasons.

Since his debut season of 2011, Seager has posted 4-or-more RBI in 18 games, tops among all AL 3rd basemen. He trails only Colorado’s Nolan Arenado (19) for the Major League lead.
