When you work for a Major League team, it is always good news if someone says you have a high “Baseball IQ”.

Tony Blengino, a Mariners special assistant to the General Manager, is putting that to the test, representing the club on the MLB Network’s first-ever game show, Baseball IQ.

Mariners Special Assistant to the GM Tony Blengino will compete on Baseball IQ tonight on the MLB Network.

The show – which airs Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday nights on the MLB Network – is a head-to-head trivia contest pitting a player from each of the MLB teams (as well as the Hall of Fame and MLB.com) against one another in a single-elimination bracket format with a chance to win cash for charity. Tony is representing Mariners Care, the club’s non-profit foundation.

Blengino’s first-round match-up (versus David Nosti, an account manager for the A’s) airs tonight at 6:30 pm PT.

The winning player of each episode wins $5,000 to be donated to their organization’s designated charity. The championship episode will award $25,000 for the winner’s charity and $15,000 to the runner-up’s charity.
