Final Score – The home team beat the visitors 7-3. Franklin Gutierrez went 3-for-3 with a home run, Dustin Ackley hit a two-run home run and Justin Smoak recorded 2 hits. Here is a complete box score:

9th Inning - RHP Yoervis Medina heads to the mound to face a couple of the Mariners top prospects, Ramon Morla, Phillips Castillo and Stefan Romero.

Vinnie Catricala hit a screaming double high off the left-center field fence for his second extra base hit. Carlos Triunfel just scored on a wild pitch by Philippe Valiquette to increase the home team lead to 7-3. Valiquette struck out the side to end the game.

8th Inning - LHP Sean Henn worked a 1-2-3 top of the 8th inning by getting three groundouts (Peguero, Henriquez, Martinez).

LHP Steve Garrison will pitch the bottom of the 8th. John Jaso leads off with a single down the left field line and advances to second on an error. And we are going to the 9th inning with the home team leading 6-3.

7th Inning - RHP Matt Fox is now pitching for the home team. Fox allowed a leadoff single to Nick Franklin, but did not allow a run.

RHP Scott Patterson now in to pitch the bottom of the 7th inning. Vinnie Catricala just hit a deep home run to left field. Home team leads 6-3.

6th Inning - RHP Jarrett Grube now pitching, Vinnie Catricala at 3B, Carlos Triunfel at SS, minor leaguer Eric Campbell at 2B, John Jaso at 1B, Mike Wilson in RF and Chih-Hsien Chiang in CF.

RHP Jeff Marquez now pitching. Lot’s of defensive changes. Ramon Morla is at 1B, Stefan Romero at 2B, Francisco Martinez at 3B, Ralph Henriquez at C and Phillips Castillo in RF. Still 5-4 home team.

5th Inning - LHP Mauricio Robles now in to pitch for the visitors. He is scheduled to face Franklin, Gutierrez and Jimenez. Robles got Franklin to strikeout looking to open the inning. Guti continues to look strong, driving a ball to left field for his third hit of the game.

Heading to the bottom of the 5th and we have our first defensive changes. RHP Josh Kinney is in to pitch, Carlos Peguero is now in left field and Darren Ford is in center field. Munenori Kawasaki led off the bottom of the 5th with a triple down the right field line, and scored on a single to center by Chone Figgins. Dustin Ackley just hit a two-run home run off Kinney to give the home team a 5-3 lead.

[Just got word that Brendan Ryan has a left foot contusion from when he fouled a ball of his instep, and is day-to-day.]

4th Inning – RHP Tom Wilhelmsen now in to pitch the top of the 4th inning. Alex Liddi singled with one out, but was thrown out by Miguel Olivo trying to advance on a ball in the dirt. Michael Saunders drew his second walk and scored on a double by Luis Rodriguez. Rodriguez was caught in a run-down to end the inning.

University of Washington product Forrest Snow is now in to pitch the bottom of the 4th. Snow quickly got two outs on a groundout (Olivo) and flyout (Wells), before Adam Moore lined a ball sharply off third baseman Kyle Seager for a single. Robinson flew out to left to end the inning. Through 4.0 innings, Mariners #2 leads 3-2.

3rd Inning - All-Star closer Brandon League now in to pitch the top of the third inning. He will face Gutierrez, Ryan and Carp to start the inning. Gutierrez adds his second hit of the game with a single to left field. Brendan Ryan just fouled a ball off his foot and it looks like he is going to come out of the game. Luis Jimenez is going to pinch-hit with the count 1-2. Jimenez struck out, but statistically it is credited to Ryan. Mike Carp just worked a 9-pitch walk, and now there are runners on first and second with two outs. Montero struck out to end the inning.

Beavan remains in the game for his second inning of work. Munenori Kawasaki grounded out to third and Chone Figgins worked a 5-pitch walk to open the frame. With Figgins running on the play, Dustin Ackley executed a perfect hit-and-run with a sharp single to center field to move Figgins to 3rd base. Ichiro followed with a run-scoring single to right field, scoring Figgins and moving Ackley to 3rd. Justin Smoak followed with another run-scoring single to tie the game at 2-2. Due to a pitch-count limit on Beavan, the inning ended with 2 runners on base and only one out. Beavan threw 1.1 innings (34 pitches/22 strikes).

2nd Inning - RHP Hector Noesi is now in to pitch. Kyle Seager led off the 2nd inning with a sharp single to right-center. Noesi then got Alex Liddi to ground into a 5-4-3 double play that featured a nice turn by Ackley at second base. Michael Saunders drew a 6-pitch walk, stole second base, and scored on a single to right field by Luis Rodriguez. Nick Franklin struck out to end the inning. Noesi threw 20 pitches/112 strikes. After an inning and a half, Mariners #2 holds a 2-0 lead. Blake Beavan now in to pitch the bottom of the 2nd. Miguel Olivo led off the bottom of the 2nd with a sharp single to center field, but was thrown out by Jesus Montero trying to steal second base. Adam Moore hit a two-out triple to center field that was lost in the sun by Franklin Gutierrez. Moore was stranded on third when Beavan got Trayvon Robinson to fly out to left field to end the inning.

1st Inning - Franklin Gutierrez led off with a solo home run to left field on a 2-1 inside fastball from Felix. He then got Brendan Ryan to strikeout swinging, and Mike Carp and Jesus Montero to fly out to right field. He threw 14 pitches/10 strikes. Kevin Millwood is starting for the visitors (we are calling them Mariners #2 for box score purposes only). Millwood worked a pretty clean inning, getting Chone Figgins and Ichiro to fly out, Justin Smoak to ground out, and Dustin Ackley reached on an error. Millwood threw 11 pitches/9 strikes.

12:40 – The teams have finished warming up, Felix is about to make his way from the bullpen and we’ll get going shortly.

11:50 – The team is off the field from the morning workout and will start the Intrasquad game in less than an hour at 12:45 p.m. on Field 1 here in Peoria. We posted them this morning, but here are the starting lineups again for today’s game:

Since there will be no MLB GameTracker coverage of the Intrasquad games held on the back fields during spring training, we are going to attempt to update you in a Live Blog format. We’ll post some highlights, statistics and a score following each inning. If Justin Smoak hits a towering home run, we’ll let you know. If Danny Hultzen strikes out the side in the first inning, we’ll post it on the blog. We hope you are able to get a feel for what is going on down here in Peoria. Here is a complete box score from today’s Intrasquad game:

8th Inning – RHP Chance Ruffin now pitching for the home team. He will face Alfredo Morales, Gabriel Noriega and Johermyn Chavez to start the inning. Ruffin worked a scoreless inning to keep the game 3-1 visitors. LHP Lucas Luetge now takes the mound for the final half inning of the Intrasquad game. The Rule 5 selection will face Chiang (reached on INF single), DeJesus (2B to LF) and Jaso (RBI groundout) to open the bottom of the 8th. It is now 3-2 after the RBI groundout by John Jaso to score Chih-Hsien Chiang. Carlos Peguero just tied the game at 3-3 with a run-scoring groundout. Luetge got Jabari Blash to strikeout looking with the potential winning run on third base to end the game in a 3-3 tie.

7th Inning – LHP Charlie Furbush now in to pitch. Luis Rodriguez extends the lead to 3-1 with a sac fly to score Alex Liddi. Liddi reached base on an error by shortstop Brad Miller, stole second base and moved to third on a throwing error by catcher John Jaso. RHP Erasmo Ramirez is now in to pitch the bottom of the 7th inning. Michael Saunders hit a one-out double to center field, but Ramirez stranded him on second by striking out Nick Franklin.

6th Inning – Steve Delabar now in to pitch for the home team and DeJesus remains in the game at first base. Score remains 1-1. After drawing a one-out walk, Darren Ford showed off his speed with a stolen base. Ford has recorded 306 stolen bases in his minor league career. Johermyn Chavez just untied the game with a ground rule double to left-center to score Ford. Mike Wilson walked and Adam Moore had an infield single before the inning was stopped due to pitch count. Now 2-1 visitors heading into the bottom of the 6th inning with LHP Cesar Jimenez now pitching. Brad Miller drew a leadoff walk, but Jimenez picked him off with a good move, and worked a scoreless inning.

5th Inning – A couple of defensive changes for the home team in the field. Brad Miller now at SS, Nick Franklin at 2B, Vinnie Catricala at 3B, John Jaso catching, Chih-Hsien Chiang in LF & Aaron Heilman pitching. Heilman worked a perfect inning with one strikeout. Moving to the bottom of the 5th still tied 1-1. Now some defensive changes for the visitors…Mike Wilson is now playing left field (actually came in last inning), Johermyn Chavez is in RF and LHP Hong-Chih Kuo is pitching. Now Kuo is facing fellow countryman Chiang (both are from Taiwan) with two outs (Chiang walked). Pinch hitter Jharmidy DeJesus flew out to center field to end the inning.

4th Inning – A little too much sun for this blogger, so I’ve moved into the dugout keeping pitchers Chance Ruffin and Charlie Furbush company. They both say hello to all of our followers. Brendan Ryan led off the inning with a solo home run to left field off Oliver Perez, but he didn’t round the bases. Still counts as a home run though. 1-1 in the top of the 4th inning. After the home run, Perez got Ichiro to ground out, Mike Carp to strike out and Jesus Montero to ground out to third to end the inning. RHP Shawn Kelley now in to pitch the bottom of the 4th inning. Carlos Peguero just hit a broken-bat triple to the right field, but was stranded on third to end the inning when Guillermo Quiroz flew out to left field.

3rd Inning – RHP Shawn Camp now in the game to pitch for the home team. Camp worked clean inning, getting speedster Darren Ford to ground out to Chone Figgins to end the inning. When Figgins came off the field, he shook his head saying “Dang, that guy can move.” Lefty James Paxton now into pitch for the visiting squad. Michael Saunders led off the inning reaching on an error by first baseman Alex Liddi  and Figgins followed with a four-pitch walk (that’s 2 walks, and 13 pitches seen out of the leadoff spot by Figgins. Ackley followed with a fly to left field to move both runners up 90 feet. Jesus Montero had a nice block on a curveball in the dirt to prevent a run from scoring. Paxton then got Casper Wells to strike out looking and Justin Smoak to ground out to end the inning without allowing a run. He threw 22 pitches (11 strikes).

2nd Inning – Vargas recorded 4 outs in the top of the 2nd (to reach his pitch limit) and ended up not allowing a hit in 2.1 innings and recorded 4 strikeouts (28 pitches/21 strikes). Taijuan Walker is now in the game to face the home team in the bottom of the first inning. Walker has struck out the first two batters he has faced (Kawasaki & Peguero), and got Guillermo Quiroz to ground out to end the inning. He threw 14 pitches (10 strikes).

1st Inning – We are underway in Peoria. Jason Vargas just struck out Darren Ford on three pitches. Game time temperature is 73-degrees. Vargas recorded a 1-2-3 first inning, striking out 2, while throwing 10 pitches (9 strikes). In the bottom half of the first, Chone Figgins led off with a 9-pitch walk against Danny Hultzen and scored on a single by Justin Smoak. Casper Wells also had a single in the inning. The inning ended with only 2 outs due to pitch count limitations (this happens in Intrasquad games). Hultzen had one strikeout (Ackley) and threw 23 pitches (13 strikes).

11:35 – We just found out that some of the players from the mini-camp will suit up and may see action in the Intrasquad game today. Here are the players: INF Brad Miller (Mariners 2nd round pick in 2011 MLB Draft), INF Jharmidy De Jesus, OF Jabari Blash OF Alfredo Morales and INF Gabriel Noriega.
