This edition of the Hot Stove League featured hosts Aaron Goldsmith, Shannon Drayer and Mike Blowers interviewing relief pitchers Danny Farquhar and Charlie Furbush, bench coach Trent Jewett, Seattle Times columnist Larry Stone and broadcaster Dave Sims.
The first day of the Mariners Winter Caravan continued this afternoon with a stop at the Cheney Family Branch of the Boys & Girls Club of South Puget Sound in Gig Harbor. Relief pitcher Danny Farquhar and broadcaster Dave Sims talked to the group of over 150 kids about motivation, education and respect, and the Mariner Moose had fun with the crowd acting his normal silly self.
Day 2 of the caravan continues tomorrow in the South Sound, with a public autograph appearance at Saint Martin’s University in Lacey (Worthington Center) from 4:15-5:45 pm. All public events on the Mariners Caravan can be viewed via Mariners.com.
The annual Mariners Caravan kicked off today with the first of two stops, starting with Dieringer Heights Elementary School in Lake Tapps.
Relief pitcher Danny Farquhar, broadcaster Dave Sims and of course, the most popular guest, the Mariner Moose. Danny, Dave and The Moose were part of a D.R.E.A.M Team assembly, talking to the 500+ kids about staying away from drugs, being respectful to yourself and others, education, attitude and motivation. Charlie Furbush was scheduled to also take part in the first leg of the caravan, but due to travel delays on the East Coast, was not able to make it.

The Mariners and Tigers will wear No. 42 jerseys tonight since they were off yesterday when the rest of the league celebrated Jackie Robinson Day. MLB commemorates Jackie Robinson Day today to honor Robinson’s inspiring life, values, and accomplishments. In proudly putting Jackie’s No. 42 on all game jerseys, the League demonstrates a powerful, unified tribute to Jackie Robinson’s legacy. In recognition of Jackie Robinson Day, one Number 42 jersey from every Club will be team-signed and auctioned off on MLB.com with proceeds benefiting the Jackie Robinson Foundation.

The Seattle Mariners 2013 Winter Caravan kicked off earlier this week with John Jaso, Mike Carp, Dan Wilson, Dave Sims and the Mariner Moose making stops in Covington, Tacoma and Lacey. Here are some photos captured by team photographer Ben Van Houten.
The 2-hour long show will be hosted by Rick Rizzs, Shannon Drayer and Matt Pitman. Scheduled guests include third baseman Kyle Seager, relief pitcher Tom Wilhelmsen, third base coach Jeff Datz, TV announcer Dave Sims and Seattle Times National Baseball Writer Larry Stone.
