Major League Baseball Commissioner Bud Selig will be in Seattle today, likely one of his last visits to the Emerald City as the head of Major League Baseball. Allan H. Selig was named the ninth Commissioner of Baseball on July 9, 1998. Selig will visit with members of the Mariners front office, chat with manager Lloyd McClendon and meet with the Seattle media this afternoon. He will also join the Mariners radio and TV broadcasts during the early innings of tonight’s 7:10 pm game vs. the Houston Astros.
Commissioner Selig has been a great ambassador for baseball during his tenure, that started as the lead figure of MLB in September 1992. He has announced he will be retiring in January 2015. Rob Manfred, the current Chief Operating Officer of MLB, will succeed Selig as the next commissioner.

After throwing his perfect game on Wednesday vs. the Rays, Felix Hernandez received a number of congratulatory phone calls, text messages, e-mails and letters.
