O’Neill, Unsworth Named to All-Star Futures Game
Mariners minor leaguers Tyler O’Neill and Dylan Unsworth have been named to the roster for the 2016 SiriusXM All-Star Futures Game, which will be played at 4:00 p.m. PT on Sunday, July 10th at Petco Park in San Diego. O’Neill (Maple Ridge, British Columbia, Canada) and Unsworth (Richwood, Cape Town, South Africa) will represent the World Team.
O’Neill is batting .310 (88×284) with 20 doubles, 13 home runs and 59 RBI in 73 games with AA Jackson this season. O’Neill currently leads the Southern League in hits (88) and total bases (151), while ranking T1st in RBI (59), T1st in extra-base hits (35), 2nd in home runs (13), 2nd in slugging percentage (.532), 3rd in OPS (.902), 4th in batting average (.310), T4th in doubles (20) and 10th in on-base percentage (.371). Last season, O’Neill led the California League with 32 home runs in 106 games with high-A Bakersfield.
In parts of 4 minor league seasons with Seattle, O’Neill is a career .277 (283×1022) hitter with 57 doubles, 59 home runs and 201 RBI in 168 career games. O’Neill was selected by the Mariners in the 3rd round of the 2013 MLB First-Year Player Draft.
Unsworth, who is currently on the disabled list, is 3-1 with a 1.16 ERA (6 ER, 46.2 IP) with 35 strikeouts in 9 starts with AA Jackson.
In parts of 7 minor league seasons with the Mariners, Unsworth is 33-33 with a 4.07 ERA (245 ER, 541.1 IP) with 462 strikeouts and 75 walks in 110 career appearances/ 103 career starts. Unsworth was signed by the Mariners as a non-drafted free agent on Sept. 15, 2009.
