Mariners 2016 Season Opener vs. Rangers to be Broadcast Nationally on ESPN

The Seattle Mariners open the 2016 regular season on the road at the Texas Rangers on Monday, April 4. The game will be one of seven games televised nationally by ESPN over the first two days of the season on Sunday, April 3rd and Monday, April 4th. The Mariners and Rangers will be the second games televised on Monday starting at 1:05 p.m. PT (3:05 pm CT).

After a three-game set in Arlington, the Mariners return to Safeco Field for the home opener on Friday, April 8, vs. the Oakland Athletics.

MLB also announced, for the second consecutive year, all games played on the final scheduled day of the regular season on Sunday, October 2nd will begin at 12:00 p.m. PT. The overlapping schedule aims to maximize the excitement of Postseason races throughout the sport on the season’s final day.

The schedule for ESPN on Sunday, April 3rd and Monday, April 4th will be as follows (all times are in PT unless noted):

  • 5:35 p.m. (PT) – NYM @ KC ESPNMONDAY, APRIL 4TH

  • 4:05 p.m. (PT) – LAD @ SD ESPN
  • 7:05 p.m. (PT) – CHI @ LAA ESPN2
