Coors Banquet, the official beer of Safeco Field, stepped up to the plate with a generous donation to the Western Wildlands Firefighters Foundation. On field for the presentation were Dan and Barbara Lyon, the parents of Daniel Lyon, the U.S Forest Service firefighter who was critically burned last month near Twisp.

Coors donated $251,600 to the Foundation, which supports firefighters and the families of firefighters injured or killed in the line of duty. Coors contributed 25-cents from the sale of every case of Coors Banquet sold in the West during July and August. The fundraiser is part of Coors’ “Protect Our West” program.

Mr. Lyon then strode to the mound where he threw a strike to Sean O’Malley for the honorary first pitch.

Daniel Lyon remains in critical condition at Harborview Medical Center, where he is being treated for burns over 60-percent of his body.

A gofundme page has been created to help with Lyon’s medical expenses.

Dan Lyon, father of badly burned U.S. Forest Service firefighter Daniel Lyon, threw out an honorary first pitch before the game. It was a strike.
