Felix Hernandez Named American League All-Star

For the 5th consecutive season and 6th time overall, Mariners starting pitcher Felix Hernandez has been named to the American League All-Star team.

King Felix joins Nelson Cruz as Mariners All-Stars this season. Manager Lloyd McClendon is also on the coaching staff for the AL in the Midsummer Classic to be played  July 14 at Great American Ball Park in Cincinnati.

This is Felix’s 6th overall selection (2009, 2011-2015), most by a pitcher in Mariners history. He now trails only Ken Griffey Jr. (10), Ichiro (10) and Edgar Martinez (7) for most All-Star selections in a Mariners uniform.

Felix is currently tied for the American League lead with 10 wins, going 10-5 with a 3.02 ERA. He is also amongst the AL leaders in games started (T2nd, 17), opponent batting average (6th, .215), strikeouts (7th, 106), innings pitched (7th, 110.1) and ERA (11th).
