Brad Miller Named American League Player of the Week
Brad Miller has been named the American League Player of the Week for the period of games May 11-17.
Miller, 25, hit .429 (9×21) with 6 runs scored, 3 doubles, 4 home runs, 5 RBI in 6 games last week vs. the San Diego Padres (2 G) and Boston Red Sox (4 G). Miller reached base at a .500 clip (3 BB) and slugged 1.143 to combine for a 1.643 OPS.
Miller has hit 4 home runs over his last 5 games, after hitting one home run in the first 30 games of the season. Over the last two games Miller has hit 3 home runs, including his fifth career multi-home run game May 16 vs. the Red Sox.
He started three games at designated hitter, two games at shortstop and made his debut in left field during the week.
This is the second career Player of the Week honor for Miller, also earning the award July 22, 2013. Miller is the second Mariners player to earn a Player of the Week award this season, joining Nelson Cruz (April 13-19) earlier this season.
