One Glorious Inning…Thanks Will!
In a role filled with hopes and dreams, Will Ferrell played one inning in the field each for the Mariners (2B) and Athletics (SS). Ferrell participated in pre-game workouts with the A’s and took the field in the top of the first inning at shortstop. He was traded to the Mariners after the first inning and appeared at second base (replacing Willie Bloomquist).
Here are some fun photos from his time in a Mariners uniform:
The stint is part of a day that will see Will at five different spring training ballparks in Arizona as production begins on a new HBO special from Funny Or Die, in partnership with Major League Baseball. Dedicating the special to the fight against cancer, Ferrell is also honoring the historic feat of Bert Campaneris five decades ago by playing every position on the field, and maybe some off the field, for ten different teams in the same day.
In addition to the Mariners-A’s game, Ferrell is scheduled to appear in the games featuring the Chicago Cubs-Los Angeles Angels at 1:10 p.m.; Cincinnati Reds-Arizona Diamondbacks at 2:10 p.m., San Francisco Giants-Chicago White Sox at 4:05 p.m.; and Los Angeles Dodgers-San Diego Padres at 6:15 p.m.
