Game Recap:
D.J. Peterson
hit a walk-off sacrifice fly in the bottom of the 9th inning to score Ketel Marte sending the Seattle Mariners to a 4-3 win over the Cleveland Indians Monday afternoon in Cactus League play at Peoria Stadium. Marte led off the inning with a triple to the right field gap. Starting pitcher Taijuan Walker recorded 4 strikeouts in 3.0 scoreless innings and Brad Miller hit a pair of home runs to highlight the victory improving the Mariners to 4-3 in spring training play. Want to watch a replay of today’s game? Well, you are in luck as ROOT Sports will air a replay of the game starting at 7 pm in the Seattle market. Re-watch the home runs by Miller (both of them) and Zunino, and the walk-off win in the broadcast.

Jason Bay in Studio:
A new, but familiar, face was involved in today’s broadcast on ROOT Sports. Former Major Leaguer (and Mariner) Jason Bay joined Brad Adam in the ROOT Sports studio in Bellevue to offer his insights. Bay was a three-time All-Star during his 11-season Major League career.

Fox Sports Interviews:
A production crew from Fox Sports and Fox Sports 1 arrived at the Mariners complex bright and early this morning to conduct several interviews for the 2015 season. Dustin Ackley, Chris Taylor, Brad Miller, Logan Morrison, Fernando Rodney, Austin Jackson and Mike Zunino all set down with the crew. Felix Hernandez was interviewed by Seattle Times beat writer Ryan Divish for a special 10-minute one-on-one that will run in the next few days.

Getting Crowded in Here:
Minor league catchers and pitchers officially reported today, and will hit the field for the first time Wednesday (physicals tomorrow). A total of 78 pitchers and catchers will be in Arizona today for minor league camp (67 pitchers, 11 catchers. 21 of the 67 pitchers were here for mini-camp and 7 of the 11 catchers were here as well.

USA Baseball in Camp:
Staff members from USA Baseball were in camp today to visit with several players that have played for Team USA in their careers. The players were given a hat and shirt with “USA Baseball Alumni” on the front. Past Team USA members included Willie Bloomquist, Brad Miller, Rickie Weeks, Austin Jackson, Justin Ruggiano, Seth Smith, D.J. Peterson and Marcus Littlewood.

Get to Know Tyler Olson:
Left-handed relief pitcher Tyler Olson has had an impressive spring so far, tossing 3.0 perfect innings with 5 strikeouts, including striking out the side today in the 4th inning vs. the Indians (Kipnis, Gomes, Brantley). Olson was profiled on this blog yesterday if you want to know more about the left-hander from Spokane.

New Rainiers Jerseys:
The Tacoma Rainiers unveiled a new set of jerseys today and they received positive reviews from a few players that have spent time with Tacoma in recent years.

710 ESPN Seattle in Camp:
Brock & Salk with 710 ESPN Seattle had another big day in camp today, interviewing Felix Hernandez, Howard Lincoln, Kyle Seager, Fernando Rodney, Austin Jackson and Mike Zunino. You can listen to podcasts of the Felix and Lincoln interview via

Correia Signs with Mariners:
Veteran RHP Kevin Correia signed a minor league deal with the Mariners this morning and is in camp as a non-roster invitee. Correia had made 353 career Major League appearances over 12 seasons with the Giants (2003-08), Padres (2009-10), Pirates (2011-12), Twins (2013-14) and Dodgers (2014). He was an All-Star with Pittsburgh in 2011.

What’s on Tap:
The Mariners continue to Cactus League play tomorrow (Tuesday, March 10) vs. the Colorado Rockies at Salt River Fields at Talking Stick. Right-hander Felix Hernandez is scheduled to make his 2015 Cactus League debut against Rockies right-hander Kyle Kendrick.
