Peoria Stadium improvements
Mariners pitchers and catchers took the field this weekend in Peoria and the first game of Spring Training game is less than two weeks from today (March 4). Fans will see some big changes at the ballpark, the second phase of a three-part renovation plan at the Peoria Sports Complex.
The first thing fans will notice is a grander entrance at the main entry at Gate B. There are also additional ticket windows to accommodate bigger crowds.
Once inside the gates, you’ll find a huge team store inside a new 4,900 square foot building on the third base concourse. The team store is on the first floor, and the second level includes an open terrace for group functions, new concession stands, a bar and restrooms.
The ballpark’s seating has been improved. Capacity has been increased some 1,000 to 12,339. Seats along the baselines have been angled toward the field, and new fixed seats with cupholders have been added throughout the ballpark.
In the outfield, the pedestrian walkway around the outfield has been widened and drink rails have been added in several areas. There is also a new 2,400 square foot group event pavilion in left field that has room for up to 300 people on two levels. There is a bar for private groups and general admission fans.
The third phase of renovations will start later this year when a Kids Zone and splash pad are installed.
