Welcome to the Mariners family Gareth!

Outfielder Gareth Morgan, the Mariners second selection in last week’s MLB Amateur Draft, officially signed with the Mariners this afternoon and will take batting practice with the Major League club.

Morgan, 18, is a 6-foot-4, 220-pound, right-handed hitting outfielder. He has played both right field and center field during his high school career. He is scheduled to report to the AZL Mariners in the Arizona Rookie League.

Gareth is a member of the Canadian Junior National Team, and has also played with the Langley Blaze travel team.

The teams played games against professional minor league clubs in Florida and Arizona during spring training.

Morgan and the Canadian Junior National team recently returned from playing eight games against professional teams in the Dominican Summer League.

Here are a few nice feature stories on Gareth from the Toronto Sun and Rogers SportsNet.
