Mariners Mondays – Seager’s Late Inning Heroics
Tonight on Mariners Mondays on ROOT SPORTS Kyle Seager’s late inning heroics lead the Mariners over two AL West division rivals.
With the Mariners coming off a 1-5 road trip last April, the bats came alive in the opening game of the homestand in a matchup with the Los Angeles Angels. Everyone got in on the hit parade in the 6-0 win, while Seager extended his early season hitting streak to a career-high 14 games with a 3-for-4, three RBI performance, which included his third home run of the season, a two-run shot in the 8th.
By July, when the Mariners met the Rangers for a three game series in Arlington, Seager was on a 1-for-19 skid. But in the first two games of the series, he went on a tear with five hit, including a two-run homer in the top of the 10th inning on July 3 that would be enough to lift the Mariners over the Rangers 4-2.
A month later, it was the Mariners vs. Rangers again, and Kyle Seager once again with the timely hitting who delivered a two-out double in the 9th to score Endy Chavez, and give the Mariners a 4-3 win over the Rangers, whose slim lead in the AL West was dwindling by the day.
Mariners Mondays airs tonight, March 3, at 7:30 pm, right after Mariners All-Access. Mariners Mondays episodes air weekly on ROOT SPORTS during Spring Training, building to the March 31 season opener against the Los Angeles Angels.
