This week on Mariners Mondays on ROOT SPORTS watch as Hisashi Iwakuma makes a push for the Cy Young Award.

In back-to-back starts in September, Kuma was master of his game. On the road in Detroit, he ran his scoreless inning streak to 25 with an 8-0 shutout of the Tigers. Kuma matched his career high with eight innings, giving up just four hits and striking out six.

His next start, September 25 at Safeco Field, Kuma put the brakes on the Kansas City Royals slim playoff hopes with a 6-0 shutout. Kuma again went eight innings, finishing his season at 14-6, with a streak of 23 consecutive scoreless innings.

Mariners Mondays airs tomorrow, February 24, beginning at 7:30 pm, right after Mariners All-Access. Mariners Mondays episodes air weekly on ROOT SPORTS during the offseason and Spring Training, building to the March 31 season opener against the Los Angeles Angels.
