2013 Spring Training Schedule
It is time to mark your calendars, as the 2013 spring training schedule was made official today. Pitchers and Catchers are set to report to Peoria, AZ on Feb. 12 for physicals and the first workout will be held Feb. 13. Position players are scheduled to report Feb. 15 and the first full-squad workout will be held Feb. 16. Due to the World Baseball Classic, some position players may report earlier than the assigned date.
The first Cactus League game, which will be the earliest in club history, will be held Feb. 22 vs. the San Diego Padres. The 2013 Cactus League schedule features 35 games beginning with a three-game weekend series with the San Diego Padres Feb. 22-24 at the club’s spring home, the Peoria (AZ) Sports Complex.
[Start time note: Daylight Saving Time goes into effect on Sunday, March 10, but the state of Arizona does not change its clocks. As a result, through March 9, for the first 16 Mariners games, Arizona will be on Mountain Time, and the games will start at 1:05 MT/12:05 PT. The Mariners will play their final game in Arizona March 28 vs. the Chicago Cubs in Mesa, and cap the spring schedule March 30 with a game vs. the Colorado Rockies in Salt Lake City, Utah (Spring Mobile Park). Seattle will hold a workout March 31 at Oakland Coliseum and open the 2013 regular season Monday, April 1 at Oakland against the Athletics. The 2013 home opener will be Monday, April 8 vs. the Houston Astros at Safeco Field (7:10 pm).
