Felix Lets the Dogs Out
The Humane Society of Seattle/King County brought a couple of adorable puppies to Safeco Field to do a photo shoot with Felix Hernandez. Felix brought along his best friend Charlie, an 18-month old English Bulldog.
The puppies, named Freya (the Norse Goddess of Love, Beauty and Destiny) and Thor (Norse God of Thunder) are from a shepherd/lab mix litter of 10. Two of the 10 have already been adopted, and six of their siblings are available now through the Humane Society website. Freya and Thor should be ready to find their forever homes by early next week.
Felix spent about an hour cuddling with the eight-week old puppies, posing for photos and recording a video public service announcement to encourage people to adopt a pet from the Humane Society.
Charlie, who weighs in at 65 pounds, is an easy going guy with a slight under-bite. He was very interested in the puppies, who didn’t seem especially interested in him. Felix says Charlie is a good dog, but he likes to chew on shoes and he snores in his sleep.
Although the puppies are named Freya and Thor, 710 ESPN’s Shannon Drayer, noted dog-lover (who just “happened” to be there for the photo shoot), suggested a good forever name for the pair would be No No and Perfecto. Not bad.
