MLB Gearing Up For Postseason

The final days of the 2012 Major League Baseball season are shaping up to be just as thrilling as last year’s wild end when four teams made it into the playoffs on the last day of the season.

This year, with an additional Wild Card in each division, there will be five teams from each League going to the postseason, and you can follow all the action on the MLB Network, FOX and TBS.

As of today, the Washington Nationals, Atlanta Braves, Cincinnati Reds and San Francisco Giants have all claimed a spot in the playoffs on the National League Side. In the American League, although no Division champs are known, the Baltimore Orioles, New York Yankees and Texas Rangers are all postseason bound. Still up for grabs is the A.L. Central, where the White Sox are still within reach of the Tigers, and the extra Wild Card team in each League. (Here are the brackets, as of today, and a helpful primer from MLB.com that explains the various scenarios.)

The one-game Wild Card matchups will be held on Friday, two days after the regular season ends. Mariners analyst Mike Blowers will preview the matchups at 1:30pm on the Bob & Groz Show on 710 ESPN.

The bonus Wild Card winners go on to their Division Series. Game 1 for both Leagues is Saturday, October 6. All games will be available on TBS and MLB Network.

The American League Championship Series starts on Saturday, October 13, on TBS. On the National League side, Game 1 is Sunday, October 14, on FOX.

Game 1 of the World Series is slated for Wednesday, October 24, at the National League Champion’s park. All World Series games will be carried live on FOX. Mike Blowers will reprise his role on Bob & Groz during the World Series, weekdays from 12-3pm on 710 ESPN Seattle.
