A “Dream” of a Day for Burien Mariners Fan

Dreamstakes winner Steve Scott accompanied 1st base coach Mike Brumley to home plate for the exchange of lineup cards.

When Steve Scott was a boy in the 1970s, his only outlet for professional baseball was the Game of the Week. And with those great Cincinnati Reds teams of the era, they were on TV a lot and he became a fan of the Big Red Machine.

Then, along came the Seattle Mariners in 1997, and his allegiance was to the home team.

Scott lives in Burien and on Friday night, he got the chance of a lifetime as the winner of the Seattle Mariners Team Stores Dreamstakes contest.

Dreamstakes winner Steve Scott got to meet Mariners pitcher Stephen Pryor.

Steve’s entry was drawn at random from the 5,000 who entered between Opening Day and August 6th.

Before the Mariners took on the Minnesota Twins, Scott donned his authentic Mariners green alternate jersey (with #11, his number from high school swim team days) and hung out on the field during batting practice. Right before game time, he accompanied first base coach Mike Brumley to home plate for the exchange of lineup cards.

Scott and his three guests (his pastor, sister and brother in law) had dinner in the Hit It Here Café and sat in VIP seats near the Mariners dugout. Also included in the prize package is a $1,000 shopping spree at the Mariners Team Store.

This is the seventh year of the Mariners Team Stores Dreamstakes contest. Congratulations Steve Scott.
