Stitch ‘n Pitch Cover The Glove
Volunteers for World Vision and Pacific Fabrics covered the 12-foot bronze statue “The Glove” outside the Left Field Gate of Safeco Field with knitted and crocheted pieces. The yarn art is part of Thursday’s Stitch ‘n Pitch (the 8th Annual).
The yarn and knitted and crocheted squares were donated by customers of Pacific Fabrics and other volunteers. Local fiber artist Suzanne Tidwell worked with World Vision to assemble to project as part of the World Vision program Knit for Kids, which mobilizes knitters to create clothing, hats and blankets which are then distributed to children in over 11 countries and the U.S.
The yarn will remain on The Glove until the end of the homestand (August 2) when it will be removed and the pieces made into blankets for distribution to needy children.
