Two Rainiers Chosen for Triple-A All-Star Game

The Pacific Coast League will take on the International League in the Triple-A All-Star Game in Buffalo, NY.

DH Luis Jimenez and C Guillermo Quiroz will represent the Rainiers at the 2012 Triple-A All-Star Game. Jimenez will be the starting designated hitter and Quiroz is a reserve catcher as the PCL squad will take on the All-Stars of the International League on July 11. The selections mark the 1st season the Rainiers have had more than 1 player named to the Triple-A All-Star Game since OF Chris Shelton and INF Bryan LaHair were both tabbed to represent the PCL during the 2009 season.

Jimenez is batting .318 (90×83) with 40 runs scored, 19 doubles, 1 triple, 13 home runs and 52 was. He ranks tied for 11th in the PCL in batting (.326), T4th in on-base percentage (.412) and 5th in walks (45). Jimenez has reached safely in 63 of the 75 games he has appeared this season and is riding a 27-game road game on-base streak (.398/43×108, .492 OBP) that dates back to April 29.

AN ALL-STAR AMONG US: The Mariners had 20 Minor League players named to 2012 All-Star teams, including 2 players from Triple-A Tacoma in the PCL, 8 players from the Double-A Jackson in the Southern League, 5 from Single- A High Desert in the California League, 3 from Single-A Clinton in the Midwest League and 2 from the DSL Mariners in the Dominican Summer League.
