This Day in Mariners History – The Kingdome Finale
On this day in Mariners history 13 years ago (June 27, 1999) the Mariners played their final game in the Kingdome against the Texas. The Mariners beat the Rangers 5-2, with Ken Griffey Jr. (who else, right?) hitting a 3-run home run in the first inning for what proved to be the only runs the Mariners would need.
The Mariners went 852-903 in 1,755 games at the Kingdome, before moving a few blocks south into Safeco Field.
