Joe Dunigan Wins Southern League Home Run Derby

Jackson outfielder Joe Dunigan won the Southern League’s Home Run Derby today as part of the All-Star Game festivities.

The Mariners farmhand, who ranks 3rd in the Southern League with 12 home runs, beat out Justin Bour of the Tennessee Smokies for the HR crown. He hit 4 home runs in the first round, 1 in the championship round and 3 in the extra round to win the derby. The event was a precursor to the Southern League All-Star game in Kodak, TN.
