Travel Roster to Japan
The Mariners announced their 30-man travel roster heading to Japan this morning:
All players on the 30-man roster will be eligible to play in the two exhibition games vs. the Hanshin Tigers (March 25) and Yomiuri Giants (March 26).
The Mariners will then set a 28-man roster prior to the Japan Opening Series games vs. the A’s (March 28 & 29). Here are some specifics on the roster situation for the series vs. the A’s:
- Only 25 of the 28 players on the roster will be eligible to play in the games.
- Players on the 28-man roster do not have to physically be in Japan.
- Players on the 28-man roster must be on the 40-man roster.
- 3 of the players of the 28 must be designated as not eligible to participate in the two-game series. Those players do not have to travel to Japan to be on the 28-man roster.
- Teams can make a roster move to activate players that traveled to Japan, but were not on the 28-man roster.
The Mariners also announced that LHP Cesar Jimenez has been outrighted to AAA Tacoma. The Major League 40-man roster is now at 37 players.
