Tweet of the Day:
A scout just told me, "I'd buy a ticket to watch Dustin Ackley hit.'' Scouts, as we all know, watch a lot of ball for free. #Mariners—

Get to Know Jabari Blash:
I had the pleasure of talking at length today with Mariners minor league outfielder Jabari Blash. Blash suited up for the Major League game vs. the Dodgers (wearing #99) and was a late-inning replacement for Ichiro in right field. Blash has a very interesting baseball background growing up in St. Thomas in the US Virgin Islands, and was selected by Seattle in the 8th round of the 2010 MLB June Amateur Draft out of Miami Dade Community College in Florida. Blash certainly passes the eye test at 6-5, 230 and has tons of raw power as is evident by his 14 home runs in 99 games with Everett and Clinton last season. Blash’s said baseball isn’t a very popular sport on St. Thomas, but is growing at the Little League level, and he played only 7 or 8 games during his high school season. Very nice kid, great potential, and someone to keep your eye on in the Mariners minor league system.
