B Game Updates

The Mariners and Reds are playing a B Game in Goodyear. We’ll update you here on highlights during the game.

Here is the box score from this morning’s B Game:

8th inning – The Reds scored 3 runs off Paxton and Mauricio Robles to take a 4-1 victory. The Mariners did not bat in the top of the 9th inning.

7th Inning – James Paxton in to pitch, and has given up a pair of infield singles. Throwing lots of strikes. After a double play turned by Carlos Triunfel and Nick Franklin, Daryl Jones lined a single to center to tie the game at 1-1.

6th Inning – Another effective inning for Ramirez, working a 1-2-3 inning on 9 pitches.

5th Inning – Darren Ford recorded his second hit in as many innings off Kyle Lotzkar. Erasmo Ramirez now in to pitch for the Mariners. Quick 7-pitch inning for Ramirez.

4th Inning – Designated hitter Luis Jimenez just hit an opposite-field home run with two outs to give the Mariners a 1-0 lead. Hultzen fired another scoreless inning, striking out a pair in the 4th inning.

3rd Inning – Darren Ford reached on a one-out single, stole second and moved to third on a wild pitch. He was stranded when Franklin struck out and John Jaso grounded out. Danny Hultzen now in to pitch the bottom of the 3rd. Hultzen worked out of a bases loaded jam (created by two errors by Franklin) by striking out two batters. He threw 19 pitches, 13 strikes.

2nd Inning – Mariners went 3-up, 3-down in the top of the second. Walker back out for his second inning, and posted another scoreless inning. He gave up a one-out single, but battled back to get a groundout and strikeout to end the inning.

1st Inning – Nick Franklin led off the game being hit by a pitch against Reds starter Daniel Corcino. Corcino is the Reds No. 6 prospect as rated by Baseball America. Taijuan Walker walked the first batter he faced, but bounced back to get a flyout, strikeout and the inning ended on a caught stealing. Walker threw 13 pitches in the bottom of the first.
