Mariners Improve to 2-1 in Cactus League Play:
Jason Vargas threw 4.0 perfect innings and third baseman Kyle Seager went 3-for-3 with a home run and two RBI to lead the Mariners to a 5-4 win over the Padres. The game was in hand with the Mariners leading 4-0 heading into the 9th, but the Padres rallied for 4 runs. OF Johermyn Chavez delivered a walk-off double in the bottom of the 9th to give the Mariners the win. Vargas did not allow a baserunner in first official spring outing. Designated hitter Jesus Montero also recorded a run-scoring double.
